Margaret Cho's latest venture, The Cho Show, on VH1 (out on 8/21), will give audiences a glimpse into the comedian's everyday life and will introduce them to her mom and dad (who are, let's just say, already familiar to hardcore Cho fans). But Margaret is no stranger to reality TV. She's been a big fan of the genre since the 1980's. "The first reality show I watched was Real People in the 80s and That’s Incredible," she said.

What are her current favorite reality shows? "I love Miss Rap Supreme and Charm School and Flavor of Love. And all of these shows are so wonderful. For Women of color there are very few places where we can actually see ourselves and see ourselves celebrated and not as the butt of jokes or as prostitutes of whatever. VH1 is, like, the safe place for women of color, not just for viewers but for people who wanted to make progress and stuff. They just are really great, great to us and for us." What does Cho think is so interesting about reality TV? "I think reality TV has made people’s life accessible. I used to be friends with an ambulance driver and he said the most exciting thing about the job was going inside people’s houses. I think that’s kind of what it’s about, going inside people’s houses." So, there you have it. Reality shows are kind of like the lives of ambulance drivers!
