After covering the 80th Annual Academy Awards, E!'s resident movie expert Ben Lyons is getting set for a spring and summer of big releases. But we asked him about his favorite TV series. Here's his list.
5 Favorite TV Series
Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood
The Sopranos
NBC Real Talk: my dad’s show on NBC
The Daily 10 on E!
Beverly Hills 90210: Unlike a lot of these other teen shows there’ll be like six weeks of will these two people kiss or not, 90210 had it all: Sex, murder, drugs, rock n roll, Dylan McKay, Steve Sanders, Shannon, Kelly Taylor. I’m the biggest 90210 fan on the planet. If you go up to Ian Ziering, if you ever see him, say you know Ben Lyons, he’ll buy you a drink, that’s my dude right there, he will tell you that I’m the world’s biggest 90210 fan. The greatest show ever created.
The Best Show He's Never Seen:
The Wire: I’ve never seen The Wire and I know I’m like the target audience for that; hip hop kids from New York, it’s set in Baltimore, drugs the whole thing, I would love a show like that, but everyone says you gotta watch it from the first season, so I don’t know when I’m gonna have time to do that but I’ll get it done eventually.
If You Want To Learn About TV, Watch...
Entourage: It’s kind of realistic. A lot of these clubs and bars that everybody goes to are featured on the show and if you put aside Drama, Turtle, smoking weed, all that stuff aside, you really focus on the way Ari and E and Vinny Chase do business and the way they get their process. That’s how the business works. I think agents, actors managers can actually learn a lot from some of the advice given on that show and it feels real.
